There was this spyro game I played on the game boy as a kid, I don't remember what it was called but I remember it being extremely fun.

Was it isometric? Apparently, the side-scrolling Spyro/Crash crossover games that apparently exist are really bad...

So it must've been one of the games in the GBA trilogy. Isometric games are 2D by definition.
