how do I find out if someone is already working on the same tune? The faqs and stuff were a bit vague to me (Im still a noob at this)

On the top of the page, there's a search bar that you can use to search for keywords on the site. Basically, search the name of the song to see if anyone's doing it.

If they're in the middle of it, chances are they haven't told anyone and probably won't until they post their's.

If they've already made it, you can check by using the handy search function at the top-right part of the forums.

If they've submitted it to the main site but it is pending, you can find them on the Submissions board (they will also turn up when you search for them).

We also have this topic for keeping track of these things, although it has become a bit antiquated. I still use it for most of my in-progress needs. It would be nice if this would be revived, I think.
