Just curious, what program did you make this file with? Whatever you used, this file is not openable in Finale. If you want somebody to make a .mus file for you, you need to export the file as either a MIDI or some form of xml.

This is not the actual file, is a temporary file. Temporary files have no data and usually have a lock icon within the file icon.

I was going to say; .bak was not a file extension I was familiar with.

I had to open Finale and then go to the open dialogue box and change the thing to all files. Then I could open it.

Supposedly, it's a backup file. I don't think it is unique to any one program.

So did you make this or where did this come from?

If it's from finale, try to rename it to .mus instead and see what happens. It's a common practice to have bak as a backup version of the file even though it's the same file type as the original.

If not then idk.

Make sure you have "see file extensions" checked in your folder browser thing

Also I have no idea if this will work, so make a copy beforehand.
