Hmm well there are plenty of ground and rock type to build a team with only one type. If you need Pokemon for your team I can lend you some too.

if i chose ground.. could i use say.. quagsire even though it's water too and gligar even though its flying too?

Yep, because they're part ground type. The key to building a good monotype team is to carefully choose your Pokemon based on what secondary type they have.
