Debate topic for next Tuesday: Are cannons truly valid instruments for an orchestra? Or should they be replaced with something safer, like Tesla coils?

Should be good! Tell me if I missed anything.

Since I liked the GBC version of Mario Tennis so much, I decided to pick up Mario Golf's first handheld title for a spin, and it's been surprisingly decent. I can see where some RPG assets were reused to be put in the tennis game, though I think the RPG formula was also improved somewhat in tennis as well. Either that or I have a sport bias. Either way, I thought I'd try my hand at arranging Mario Golf's main menu music. Do enjoy!

Quote from: Bloop on January 10, 2022, 09:18:22 AM-m25 and on: In the L.H. you sometimes use staccato+tenuto markings, but I think it may be better to just cut off an 8th of these note lengths (like you did in page 1 anyway). You sometimes have these markings on the ends of ties too, but that's not necessary either; articulation markings for piano sheet music should never go on the ends of ties. For the staccato+tenutos on the ends of ties that are 8th notes, you can just remove the articulations without changing the lengths of the notes. This also applies to the R.H. from m37 and on too.
I've reworked some of the tenuto stuff, but I do believe during the sections with the big chords that a few of them deserve the articulation, 'cause they do sound longer than just eighth notes alone and slightly shorter than quarters.
All other changes should all be implemented too.

Since Nintendo decided to add this game to its service, how could I resist playing the original when I enjoyed quite a bit of the reboot? Here's another funky jam now fit for piano:

Quote from: Whoppybones on December 30, 2021, 10:09:27 AM-m20-21, I hear more notes than just the octaves. True, they're beneath the octaves in the original, but you could probably place them in the middle of the octaves without much trouble, kinda like how you moved the electric piano voice up an octave.
I think I got it. Should be all updated!

Piano Arrangements / Re: Arrangement Highlights of 2021
December 29, 2021, 03:03:29 PM
This year's been a bunch of fun for arranging. I've been hitting the original GameBoy for quite a few sheets, especially Mario Tennis. Though, I found my sheets from games on other consoles to be some of the my favorites. Here, in no particular order, are five I enjoyed making this year:
A Totally Phat Jam from Planet Funkotron
"ToeJam Jammin'" was an excellent track to arrange for that funky piano sound, man. Raddest one I did this year, fo sho!

A "Creative Exercise" Spiritual Successor
The "Graphics Editor" theme from WarioWare: D.I.Y. holds a very special place in my heart, as the game was the first to get me truly interested in game design. While I haven't been really vocal about them, since this game, I've been dabbling more into the process of videogame programming through some little projects here and there, and, in addition, I almost instinctively play this song in the background as I work on them.

A Dynamic Diagnosis
I feel like if you owned the game or not, you could definitely get into the groove of "Chill" from Dr. Mario. While it's not considered a main theme of the games like "Fever" is, I feel like quite a few of us can agree this is a magnum opus of puzzle game music.

A Spooktacular Bop
It's somewhat sad that the Wario Land series hasn't had an entry in 13 years, but when you have the bar set as high as it is in this game, it's hard to think up a stellar sequel after the greatness of this title. Rumor has it that "Crescent Moon Village" was so catchy, that it was also used in the background of the first game in the WarioWare series.

A Race Age Finale
The "Ending" theme to Super Mario Kart is one that I don't think gets as much recognition as the proceeding titles' staff credits songs. Perhaps that's due to how rough it controlled compared to its successors. Either way, I found it as quite an appropriate way to end the first game in what was to become a beloved franchise. I don't know when the next update will be, so it may be up by the beginning of 2022. It was accepted this year though, so it counts, right?

Feedback / Re: Sheet Music Errors Thread

All the DuckTales sheets, excluding the "Transylvania (Beta)" one, are crediting the incorrect composer. They should all credit Hiroshige Tonomura instead of Yoshihiro Sakaguchi.

Quote from: Bloop on December 21, 2021, 02:06:52 AM-m21: The flat of the Eb on beat 1.5 in the R.H. is touching the note before.
I moved it, but if it's too close to the other flat, let me know.
Other than that, everything should be accounted for.

Quote from: Bloop on December 20, 2021, 05:55:37 AM-m5 (and similar measures): On beat 3, you can also use a dotted 8th rest instead of 8th+16th rests, to make the beat a bit compacter and easier to read. If you prefer them non-dotted, that's fine too! Same applies to the L.H. in m41.
I'll leave it as is.
Quote from: Bloop on December 20, 2021, 05:55:37 AM-m30: I hear a C on top in the R.H. on beat 2.75 (maybe instead of the Bb but I'm not 100% sure about that). Also, I hear a G instead of an Ab on beat 3.25. Also also, I hear a Dn instead of a Db in the L.H. on beat 4.5.
I hear the top note as Bb all the way through, though the G sounds accurate. In addition to the D natural, I think I hear the note before being a C instead of another D natural.
Other than those, all the other changes have been made.

Been playing quite a bit of this game and its sequel on the Disney Afternoon Collection. Thought I'd arrange one of the few leftover pieces on the site for it. Hope you all enjoy!
