The Deku Trombonist

You may only make one post in this topic with your submissions. Subsequent posts will be deleted. Edit your posts to respond to any comments I may have. This is not for holding discussions. General questions go in the Questions Thread. Specific questions can be PM'd.

For the next update, you may post  3 New songs + ∞ Replacements you think are ready for submission.
So basically, you can submit as many replacement arrangements as you want, but only 3 new ones.

Please indicate if your submission is a replacement, it makes things much easier.

I HAVE UPDATED THE FORMATTING GUIDELINES. READ THEM HERE AND FOLLOW THEM!

Any extra posts will be deleted.  I will edit your post with rejection reasons, or to tell you it's accepted.  I may accept all or just one or none of your submissions.

So, in a lovely step-by-step process:
1.  Perfect up to 3 songs for submission
2.  Make sure they are formatted PERFECTLY
3.  Post links to the submissions here, mus and midi
4.  Did I mention I want them perfectly formatted?  Repeat steps 2 and 3 if you didn't listen to me
5.  I will review submissions and post acceptance/rejection feedback whenever I can.
6.  On the 10th of December, I'll close the thread to Submissions.
7.  I'll wait 1 day if any modifications need to be made and then all accepted songs will be uploaded and we'll start this circus again

Got it?  If yes, make your post and submit your songs!  If not, PM me with questions.

Questions I've Received (or made up):
-Do I need to break up a medley? No, it counts as one submission
-Do I have to include copyright and the site URL?  Yes.  The copyright is just <Publisher> © <Year Published> without the <> obviously.  The URL is http://www.ninsheetm.us/
-How do I make a MIDI? Open the MUS in Finale, click File>Save As... and choose MIDI from the dropdown list.
-When can we submit? Now!  Just do it.
-Can I still submit after you've swept-through the posts? Yes.  You can submit up until I post that the thread is closed for submissions.

I will post a list of accepted arrangement under here as they are accepted.

[GB] Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal - "Vermillion City" - Thomas Wilson Midi
[NES] Contra - "Opening Theme" - Thomas Wilson Midi
[NES] Contra - "Stage 1/7 - Jungle/Hangar" - Thomas Wilson Midi

Man, college sure slows you down. I'll update my thread soon.

Deku:
Vermillion City: Eh, I dunno, to me it sounds like it's missing something, namely the bass part. Perhaps consider moving the left hand part to the right hand and adding a new left hand part or whatever works. Also, there are some wrong notes creeping in here and there.

Opening Theme: Okey.

The one with the long name: Some of the right hand rhythms need fixin' up.

pumpy_heart
Vermillion City: What notes? And I tried that. Sounded more hollow than it does now. You'd need the melody in the right hand. Left hand, giving it bass would have the same rhythms as the treble while sounding exactly like a countermelody. Which is why I combined the two. Trying to add notes to the right hand gets really messy and unplayable at times.

Contra Stage 1: Not really sure what you're talking about. Is it the eighth, sixteenth, eighth, sixteenth, eighth? I've seen that written before and had to play it. I can understand the eighth, dotted eighth, dotted eighth being confusing. That can be fixed. Just not sure if there's anything else you're referencing.

Deku:
Vermillion: Eh, whatever, alright then.

Stage1: Some of the rhythms are off the beat where they are written as being on the beat. Perhaps more elaboration tomorrow. Off to bed.

pumpy_heart
Stage1: *awaits elaboration*

Deku:
Sorry, I'm just really busy at the moment. Link. Look at Measures 2-9 and at 22-23. The rhythm at 22-23 is supposed to continue to halfway through 30 but time is a little short, sorry. I'll try to get that done tonight.

pumpy_heart
Ahhh I see what you mean. I could try to fix it up if you think you'd run out of time.

Deku:
Nah, I reckon I can squeeze it in somewhere.

[SNES] MegaMan X2 ''Credits'' MIDI
[GCN] Tales of Symphonia ''Starry Heavens'' MIDI
[PSP] Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X ''Fighting of the Spirit'' MIDI

Replacements
[GCN] Tales of Symphonia ''The end of a Thought'' MIDI  Fixed

Deku:
Credits: Accepted.

Sorry, my internet's really crappy at the moment. It goes fast again tomorrow, so I'll get back to it then.

Sipan:
ok

Deku:
Yay! Fast internet!

Starry Heavens: Plagiarised.
Fighting of the Spirit: Basically the same as the one on the site. All you did was change some minor things and whack a key change on it.

The End of a Thought: What's the difference between this one and the one one the site?

Sipan:
The End of a Thought: l changed the note from Measure 9-24 and 41-48  81-88.
Starry Heavens and Fighting of the Spirit: l don't know what you say but would you please translate with google English to Dutch ok

Deku:
Google Translate Says: geplagieerd

You've taken someone else's arrangement, and wrote down that you arranged it instead.

Sipan:
oh ok. are you gonna accept The End of a Thought

Deku:
Yeah, it's accepted.

New one:
[GB] Wario Land II - "Bouncy Wario" mus midi
And a replacement:
[SNES] EarthBound - "New Age Retro Hippie" (by Random_Goldfish) mus midi
In this one I've corrected the title, copyright, etc. and changed the left hand part in measures 12/13 [I thought that playing sixteenths in this piece is a little bit too hard, so I changed them into eights (of course I might be wrong)].

Deku:
Both Accepted.

PianoMan

#4
[DC] Sonic Adventure 2 - "Metal Harbor" or [GC] Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - "Metal Harbor" MUS MIDI

The song title is actually "That's the Way I Like It," but nobody recognizes it by that name. The stage it's in is Metal Harbor.

Deku:
Yeah good.
Which one do you want it under? Or both?

PianoMan:
I suppose it's better to put it as the DreamCast one, because the GameCube game is just a port of that one with a few small differences. Is there a protocol for naming songs that appear in the OST by different names than the stages they're in?

Deku:
Nope, there's no protocol. Dreamcast it is then.

Okay, I have TRANSCRIBED "Lazy Afternoons" from Kingdom hearts II--basically, it was already arranged for piano by Square-Enix, and I copied it exactly note-by-note.

Am I allowed to submit this? The main problem that I see is that it's very crowded.

Lazy Afternoons
MUS
MID

If I can't, I completely understand. :P

Deku:
Explain further. I have a feeling your meaning of 'transcribed' may be different to my meaning of 'transcribed' in this context.

Slow: Basically what I said;ìt was arranged by the creators if Kingdom Hearts, Square-Enix, and I copied it onto Finale note for note. The only differences are two grace notes that I couldn't put in with Notepad.

Deku:
Nope, if I was to upload that, it would constitute plagiarism/copyright infringement.

Even though I credited the arranger? :P

Deku:
No

Deku:
Professor Layton's Theme: Still invalid file error.
Herzen Castle: Err...Formatting?? I'll fix it up this time, so call it accepted

Bloop:

Olimar12345

not very much this week: i have a TON in progress but none other than these are ready :<

NEW:

[pc]-Cave Story-Balcony-MUS Midi

REPLACEMENTS:

[GCN]-Pikmin 2-Awakening Wood-Olimar- MUS Midi
[GCN]-Pikmin 2-Awakening Wood-Louie- MUS Midi

Deku:
Time is of the essence so short feedback. Perhaps more tomorrow:
Balcony: Whole notes held for 2 bars? It's a bit silly.

Awakening wood (both): I think it needs a time signature change somewhere. I'm not sure if the links are still up to my shitty version, but the time signatures were correct. I might just fix them myself as time permits.

OLIMAR
balcony-leave it in!! its in the original!! :<

awakening wood-there is no time change-its straight.

Deku:
Balcony: Then it's not really proper solo piano is it? Then it's just intended to be showy, look pretty and play back nicely more than anything else. You physically cannot hold the whole notes down while also playing the quarter notes so don't write it that way. You write it how it is to be played.

Awakening Wood: I'll get back to you Try this.

OLIMAR
Balcony-k fixed.

AW-WTF? now you've got everything on the WRONG SIDE OF THE BEAT‼ and thats not a pickup note-the Time was FINE BEFORE!

Deku:
AW: I beg to differ, but meh whatever, I'll accept it anyway.
Balcony's fine.

OLIMAR
the trumpets are on down-beats, but if ur still not convinced just look how much easier it is to read. (btw, the way ur using 7/8 and 9/8 is flawed anyway)
