Absolutely this. I had the most scarring dream last night even.

^LOL

Blah, been at work for 4 1/2 hours, I have class again in 3 hours...until 9 PM -.- It looks like my professor's not showing up today so I've just been telling visitors to email her or leave contact info.

I want a schedule change already...I have class at 8 am tomorrow too...

I seem to be missing a piece of my ear.

ETFROXX

UGH. Today in my journalism class the teacher brought up how Wikipedia would be blacked out due to SOPA protesting, over half the class didn't know what SOPA is or didn't care. This pissed me off so fucking much, that people can care that little and pay attention that little. This one asshole just started talking about how he likes to watch documentaries about drugs. Someone asked him why Wikipedia was being blacked out and he said 'because of something called SOPA, whatever that is'. I almost slapped him. What the fuck is with people.

SlowPokemon

^Omg I KNOW! So many people, even if they know, just legitimately do not give a fuck. :| like. There's a very small chance it'll pass, but seriously. At least care a little.

Fuck logic, that shit is boring, lame and does not always support my opinions.

Ruto

Yup, like the fact that Congress would even take this seriously...

I seem to be missing a piece of my ear.

spitllama

I don't really care tbh... if I had the slightest feeling it would pass then it'd be worth worrying about. But it won't.

I don't understand the ruckus over it either, to be frank.  If the bill somehow even passes in the Legislature, Obama vetoes it and looks good for the next Presidential election (!!! ... Well, maybe!).  If he doesn't veto (Hahahahahaha, that would be such a terrible decision, but so hilarious.) or his veto is overturned, the Supreme Court will rule it as unconstitutional.  Really, the bill shouldn't pass in Congress, and if it does, the bill is going to die anyway.

As far as people being unaware of these bills; should I castigate others for being unaware of the current Prime Minister of Italy (Who has a much easier to remember name than Berlusconi!)?  No, because not everyone pays such close attention to the news.  And even then, it's not as if SOPA is the main headline in most newspapers, considering that it's not going to pass as a law anyway.  The Internet is probably the largest source of information towards SOPA (I wonder why!), so evidently, people who frequent the Internet will be familiar with the bill.  So I feel that, although it may irksome to some, it's unfair to criticise people for being unfamiliar with the bill (Especially since it's not going to become a law anyway.  If it did, we would have bigger problems than Internet censorship).

But that's just me, anyway.

Wrydryn

The ruckus over it is the fact that it's a very real possibility that it could pass. Also I don't trust Obama to veto it and I would rather just have it not pass at all.
Also don't forget about PIPA (Protect IP Act), this bill is just as damaging as SOPA.

The stink about these bills is also the fact of the collateral damage they cause to the internet that is getting in the way of the original purpose.

It was also nice to see SOPA get some news coverage on TV in how sites are shutting down for the day.

Mashi

It won't pass.  The possibility may as well not exist, because the bill has no chance of existing as a law in this form of government.

Also, it would be absolutely foolish for Obama to not veto the bill with the upcoming election.  To even think that he won't veto the bill is ridiculous.

SuperFireKirby

I've seen the word "unconstitutional" passed around here as a reason the bill won't pass. Sooooo what exactly does that word mean? Because you know, it was recently decided that Money= Freedom. So that must mean that tons of money given to your local congressman= LOADS OF FREEDOM. Possibly enough to make the bill constitutional! And with all these guys backing the bill, that ALOT of FREEDOM:

Something that does not comply to the principles of the Constitution.
