I can't envision it happening. Didn't they also say it'd release holidays 2014? Wouldn't a December date make more sense...?

Yeah official time frame is holiday 2014, but holiday could just as easily refer to November (i.e., Super Mario 3D World last year, Super Mario 3D Land a couple years before that, etc.). The Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire thing is what makes me think it's not an accurate date.
