Help! / Critiquing Submissions
August 06, 2018, 10:17:53 PM
Sometimes I'll be looking through the submissions thread, and there'll be something I'd like to suggest or add. Is this something that's frowned upon? I can understand if this is an activity reserved for the mods/veterans who truly know the formatting rules/arranging techniques/etc., so I wanted to ask before I go ahead and add my two cents in. Thanks!

Request / [SNES] Live A Live Soundtrack
August 03, 2018, 01:12:12 PM
I suppose this is the right forum for this.

This isn't necessarily a request for specific song or anything, but I wanted to recommend a game whose soundtrack goes unnoticed and I think deserves more attention. Live A Live is an obscure SNES game never released outside Japan, and its soundtrack was made by the great Yoko Shimomura. Frankly, I think it's some of her best work, but the game isn't really known enough for it to become super present in the mainstream.

Given the game's relative obscurity, I would think that there isn't much demand for its music. However, Ninsheetmusic has one song from the game arranged, ("Wanderer", arr. by Yugikun) and its popularity bar is half-filled, so I guess there is somewhat  of an audience for it, especially when some of the game's other songs are far more well-known than Wanderer.

Please don't take this request the wrong way--I'm not asking any one person to go ahead and arrange the whole soundtrack, as that's pretty unreasonable. I've been inactive on ninsheetmusic the past couple of years because I don't have finale and it was too frustrating to not be able to format it myself, due to the limitations of finale's free version. I should be getting the full version of finale soon, (thanks to my new student discount) and I would definitely be able to add some sheets from this game. I just wanted to mention it, and see if anyone else is interested. Thanks!

Here's the full OST from the game. (Timestamps are in the description) :

Help! / Ratings?
June 28, 2015, 05:12:01 PM
This may seem very redundant considering how long I've been using this site, but the vertical lines between the arranger's name and the file downloads- is that a rating for that arrangement? That would to make sense, as it seems that the better arrangements typically have more lines. However, if this is the case, who actually does the rating? The admins? Because if that's a rating for the piece, I certainly don't see any way to actually rate it myself. So what exactly do those lines mean?

Alright, call me crazy, but I think piano renditions of Remix 6 from Rhythm Tengoku, Remix 10 from Rhythm Heaven, and Remix 10 from Rhythm Heaven Fever would be awesome. As people who have played the games would know, these are the "end-game-combine-all-others" remixes. As such, I think it would be neat to see a little bit from every sub-game in one big piano/piano duet arrangement. Normally I would try to write these out myself, but A: I have notepad, which is VERY limited in what it can do, B: I don't have the necessary skill level required for a project like this, and C: The amount of clef changes/key changes/time sig. changes would be crazy. But still, I think it's an interesting and fun idea. Any thoughts?

(P.S.: If you have never played these games, I HIGHLY recommend that you do)

Help! / Creating a PDF
June 14, 2015, 04:57:49 PM
I realize that this has already been discussed in the forums, but it didn't have the answers I needed. So, simply put and very cut-throat, in finale notepad, what is the best and easiest way of creating a PDF file? The .mus and .mid files were easy, but even with the online handbook, I'm having trouble making the .pdf of my arrangement. So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help! / Non-finale music notation softwares
January 11, 2015, 11:32:07 AM
I've gotten a lot of my sheet music from this site, and since I enjoy transcribing in my free time, so I figured that I could give back with a couple sheets. However, thus beings the problems. My main expertise in notation programs is in musescore, and I'm getting better at Sibelius. But, everything on this site is Finale-based. I'm trying Notepad, however it's very primitive compared to what I'm used to. So I figure the best solution to just write songs in a different program and import them into Notepad via music XML. However, this hasn't worked. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to what I can do to work around using Notepad?
